Better sleep starts with finding the cause

Snoring, poor sleep, insomnia and daytime tiredness can have different causes. Some are closely linked to how you breathe at night.

Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea causes repeated interruptions to breathing during sleep, often with loud snoring, witnessed pauses, gasping or daytime fatigue.

Snoring

Snoring is common, but persistent or loud snoring can sometimes be linked to obstructive sleep apnea or other sleep-related breathing problems.

Insomnia

Insomnia means difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep or getting restful sleep.

Daytime Sleepiness

Persistent sleepiness during the day can be linked to not enough sleep, sleep apnea, insomnia, medication effects or other sleep and medical conditions.

Sleep studies and CPAP care

When it is clinically appropriate, Dr. Katranji can decide whether a sleep study is needed and explain the results. For sleep apnea, treatment may include positive airway pressure therapy with follow-up.
